Description
Our organic chickpeas have a subtle, nutty flavour and a creamy yet firm texture. They retain their shape well when cooked, can be sprouted, boiled or roasted, made into a savoury snack, baked in the oven, added to salads, or pureed for a delicious hummus.
As a rich source of vitamins, minerals and fibre, organic chickpeas may offer a variety of health benefits, such as improving digestion, aiding weight management and reducing the risk of several diseases. High in protein, they make an excellent source of protein in plant-based diets.
How to Use
Before cooking the chickpeas, place them in a large bowl and cover completely with cold water. Allow them to soak for at least 12 hours or overnight. Drain the chickpeas and add to a large pot. Cover with water twice the amount of chickpeas and bring to a boil. Cover, lower the heat, and allow the pot to simmer for approximately one hour. Test them after an hour to see if they are to your liking. If not, simmer for longer. Drain and allow them to cool a bit before serving or storing.
