Description
Organic white lentils are perfect for traditional Indian dal recipes. They are best cooked with seasonings, such as herbs, garlic, or onions. Cook lentils without salt and bring them to a boil, then turn the heat down and simmer. White lentils can also be cooked in a pan with water and a stock cube for added flavour. Lentils are high in fibre, and full of B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.
How to Use
To cook split white lentils, add 1 part of rinsed lentils to 2 parts of water or stock to a pot. Bring it to a boil and then simmer uncovered for about 20-30 minutes. Add more water as needed to just barely cover the lentils. Strain the lentils, return to the pot and add a pinch of salt. Optional: you can add lemon juice, vinegar, olive oil, or fresh herbs and spices. You can eat them on their own or add them to soups and stews.
