Description
Organic Prunes are dried pitted plums. They come from the European plum, a species of flowering plant in the family of Rosaceae. Organic Prunes have a deep complex flavor and mild notes of sourness which balances their sweetness out. Prunes are 64% carbohydrates including fiber, 2% protein, an abundant source of vitamin K, and a modest source of potassium and B vitamins. Their high sugar content permits them to be dried without fermenting. Although high in sugar, they don’t cause rapid increase in blood sugarย levels. They are also a good source of energy.ย
How to Use
You can have them by themselves, use in a Moroccan tagine, or make stewed prunes.
You can make easy simple delicious stewed prunes by bringing water, prunes, and any sweet flavoring, like vanilla extract and cinnamon ground, to boil. Then, simmer for about 15 minutes, while the saucepan is covered. Refrigerate the dish after, which allows it to thicken. However, serving them warm is not a bad idea, especially if it's over yogurt.
