Description
Organic sultana raisins are created by naturally drying white seedless grapes. Sultanas are typically smaller, sweeter and juicier than other raisins. The term “raisin” is often used to refer to both raisins and sultanas; many differentiate sultanas from the average raisin by referring to them as “golden raisins”.
These small fruit are a nutrient-dense food, making them relatively low in calories but high in nutrients such as iron, copper, and fibre. In fact, dried grapes contain four times the fibre, vitamins and minerals found in fresh grapes. Their fibre and potassium are a great source of plant compounds, including powerful antioxidants.
How to Use
Sultanas can be used as a topping on your favourite breakfast and lunch meal or enjoyed on their own as a raw snack. They dry well for granola and cereals (we add them to our Granola with Nuts and Berries at Little Plant Pantry) and can be enjoyed in a salad or pilaf. To make rice pilaf, add your favorite rice, sultanas, water (or veggie stock), and salt/pepper to a pot. Bring them to a boil for a minute or so. Cover and reduce heat until all the water has evaporated. Optional: sautΓ© onions before adding the rest of the ingredients to the pot to give it more flavour.
Production Process
After accepting sultanas/raisins to the factory, they are washed, cleaned mechanically through the sieves, aspirators, cleaned by the laser and X-ray scanners. The packed goods are passed through the metal detector for metal inspection.
