Description

Organic arrowroot powder, also known as arrowroot flour or starch, is a thickening agent. Most commonly used to add texture in baking and cooking, arrowroot powder is also effective in thickening sauces.

How to Use
Arrowroot powder can be substituted for cornstarch or flour. For cornflour substitution, replace 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of arrowroot powder. To replace flour thickeners, use 1 teaspoon of arrowroot powder for every one tablespoon of flour. Be sure to make a slurry before cooking with it. Mix your arrowroot powder with a little bit of cold water (creating a slurry) before adding it to your recipe.

Production Process
Arrowroot Powder is obtained from Arrowroots Tubers; Arrowroot tubers contain about 23% starch. They are washed, cleaned, washed again, drained and finally reduced to a pulp by beating them in mortars or subjecting them to the action of the wheel-rasp. The milky liquid thus obtained is passed through a coarse cloth or hair sieve and the pure starch, which is insoluble, is allowed to settle at the bottom. The wet starch is dried in the sun or in a drying house. The result is a powder, the "arrowroot."
