Organic Garam Masala is an aromatic mix of ground spices used extensively in Indian cooking. Originally, it comes from South Asia and is common in Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and Afghan cuisines. While the word masala stands for “spices”, garam means “hot”. Organic garam masala has a sweet taste with floral notes, and a touch of spiciness from the black pepper. As one might expect, the makeup of garam masala varies regionally. Our garam masala, in particular, has the composition of coriander, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, black mustard, cloves, galanga, and black pepper.
How to Use
Garam masala is typically added toward the end of cooking, so it not only seasons the dish but also adds a rich aroma. It is used both on its own and with other spices. Garam masala can be mixed into curries, lentils, and soups.
