Our organic Whole Mustard Seeds are yellow and come from the annual white mustard plant B. hirta/Sinapis alba, all parts of which are edible. The white mustard plant originates from the Mediterranean area. However, it grows in both cold and warm climates, which may explain mustard’s popularity around the world. Interestingly, it is in the same genus as cabbage and turnip. Mustard seeds are an important spice in many regional diets. They are commonly used as a spice in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
How to Use
Mustard seeds can be sautéed, crushed and grinded. Yellow mustard seeds are often toasted to add to dishes or used for pickling. Mustard seeds can be used to make homemade mustard condiments or included in a stir-fry along with other aromatic herbs and spices.
