Description

Organic Whole Nutmeg is a seed of Myristica fragrans, a dark-leaved evergreen tree cultivated for two spices derived from its fruit: nutmeg, from its seed, and mace, from the seed covering. Unlike ground nutmeg, whole nutmeg lasts indefinitely, as long as it’s stored properly. One whole organic nutmeg grated yields 2 to 3 teaspoons of ground nutmeg. It has a distinctive pungent fragrance and a warm, slightly sweet taste. If consumed in amounts exceeding its typical use as a spice, nutmeg powder may produce allergic reactions or have psychoactive effects. Surprisingly, nutmeg has no scientifically confirmed medicinal value.

How to Use
Nutmeg goes well with baked or stewed fruit, curries, sauces, pasta, and vegetables, especially spinach.
