Winter savory (bonenkruid berg) or Satureja montana is an aromatic semi-evergreen herb in the family Lamiaceae, related to rosemary and thyme. It is native to warm temperate regions of southern Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa. Savory is commonly used in Armenian, Georgian, Bulgarian and Italian cuisines, particularly when cooking beans. The modern spice mixture Herbes de Provence has savory as one of the principal ingredients.
