The aftertaste is somewhat like mustard. The aroma is somewhat reminiscent of the smell of fresh hay. The spice is also known as Greek hay. The ancient Greeks mixed it with hay because it gave their horses a shiny coat and had a good influence on their muscle strength.

How to Use
Although fenugreek seed is very common in Indian cuisine, that doesn't mean it's limited to that, being used for instance in pastries and bread in the Arab world. Both the leaves and the seeds are edible. Fenugreek seed whole can also be used in salads, with cooked vegetables and processed in (vegan) cheese. During the cold days you can, in combination with ginger root, make a spicy tea from it.
