Description
Our organic short brown rice has a firm but light texture. It sticks together much more than long grain brown rice and can be used in dishes like risotto. The bran and germ in the outer layer of this whole grain give it a hearty chewy texture and rich nutty flavour. Brown rice can be used as a substitute in most recipes calling for white rice.
How to Use
Some people shy away from brown rice because they think it takes too long to cook. To cut down on cooking time, soak the long brown rice for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight, covered and in the fridge. When you are ready to cook, drain the rice and add 1 part rice to 2 parts water to a pot. Bring it to a boil for a few minutes before covering it and lowering the heat to a simmer. After only 20 minutes, your brown rice is tender and ready to eat.
