Our raw organic cocoa nibs are made from the beans of Peruvian cocoa trees. Cocoa nibs are jam-packed with minerals, nutrients, and healthy plant compounds. The Maya and the Aztecs praised cocoa beans for their delicious taste, as well as their ceremonial importance. They also considered them valuable enough to use as a means of payment. Introduced to Europe by the Spaniards, regular trade of cocoa beans began in the 17th century. Sellers would also add sugar to their cocoa products in order to counteract their bitter taste. Whereas many cocoa products are still processed and artificially sweetened, raw organic cocoa nibs are one of the least processed cocoa products out there. These particular cocoa nibs do not contain any added fat or sugar. Cocoa is said to have a wide range of health benefits, as it contains high levels of polyphenols with antioxidant properties. Some researchers report that these antioxidants can be beneficial to long-term health. They also link cocoa to disease protection and praise it for its anti-inflammatory properties. Unroasted cocoa nibs retain most of the nutrients found in cocoa, and are therefore a good source of fibre, protein, and many healthy fats. They are rich in magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium, and manganese. As they are also naturally low in sugar, cocoa nibs provide an excellent alternative to other less-healthy cocoa products. These organic, raw, unroasted cocoa nibs are the perfect addition to any chocolate lover's dessert recipe. Or, you can simply eat them as they are.
How to use
Cocoa nibs can be ground to create melted chocolate, or roasted in the oven.
Production process
Fermented cocoa beans are dried with temperatures up to 45°C, and sorted. The beans are peeled, cleaned, crushed, and packed. No GMOs or irradiation.
Store in an airtight container and keep cool. Keep dry and away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is recommended in warm climates.

2-3 years unopened, 3 months opened.
